At some point in the recent updates, I have lost the ability to download from

I re-installed 4.6.3 and downloaded successfully and have started to go through
the later versions in an attempt to identify the point at which things change.

Once I find the last working version, I'll confirm that and also upload the two
logs generated with the latest version.

You're not the only one losing the ability to download from a Petrel 2 (or
Perdix). And the problem doesn't seem to be limited to Subsurface. There have
been reports on ScubaBoard from Shearwater Cloud users saying they can no
longer download dives. It looks to be related to pairing, and the only fix
that has worked for me is to leave the battery out of my Petrel 2 until the
dive computer forgets its pairing information. Leaving it out for 2 hours was
not long enough, but 2 days was.
I tried leaving the battery out over night and restarted it. This time, after
pairing, there were two entries in the ‘connection’ field, one of which was a
normal Bluetooth address and the other an LE address -something I hadn’t seen
before. The normal one worked properly, whilst the LE just sat there.
Another fix that worked for some people (but didn't for me) was to remove the
Shearwater Cloud app and all associated data from their Android phones.

That you can download with v4.6.3 is interesting. Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)
support was added in 4.7 according to the release notes, and I never had any
issues until I started playing with BLE. Are you on Windows? Which version?

Cheers,

Rick

I have two Petrel 2 on my SF2. One controller and a Petrel EXT.
I have no problem to download from Subsurface desktop 4.7.x on Windows with my
laptop BT adapter or via the Shearwater BT dongle.
Unfortunately no way from my cheap LG phone and a Huawey P8. I can download
from my wife's Nexus 5x and an ancient Nexus 7 first version.

I suspect that is not a Subsurface fault or at least not entirely. While
pairing most of the times I get BT fail on the Petrel but the phone doesn't
realize of the device error and adds the Petrel as paired. Of course later on I
can't download from Subsurface. I'm forced to delete the Petrel from the list
of paired devices and start again. Unfortunately even after a successful
pairing I have no luck with Subsurface...

There are no words for the anger I feel pairing flawlessly my 10$ BT earphone :)

Rick could you remember me how to check if my Petrel are BLE or not?

Thanks
