check your logs. /var/log/mail.log and /var/log/daemon.log. Make sure that imapd SSL certificate is available in /etc/ssl/certs directory. If you have tried installing other imap servers, move imapd.pem to some other directory and reinstall uw-imapd or at least rerun uw-imapd postinst. Start SquirrelMail conf.pl utility, select "2. Server settings", then select "A. Update IMAP settings" and show us options from 4 to 9.
