Hello,
I was a little bit surprised as I compared the IMAP folder
view of e.g. Thunderbird with the folder view of SM.

Example:
In Thunderbird I have created subdirectories which
are containing several mail folders. Because I'm
using uw-imapd I need to decide if I want to create
a new directory or a mail folder, both at the same
  time is not allowed.

  The result looks like this:

/archive-1 <- this is a directory and therefore
     | greyed out and not selectable
     +- mail-folder-1 <- These are mail folders
     +- mail-folder-2 <- which are selectable
     +- mail-folder-3 <- for reading

In the .mailboxlist file you will find three entries:

  archive-1/mail-folder-1
  archive-1/mail-folder-2
  archive-1/mail-folder-3

If I now fire-up Squirrelmail the subdirectory 'archive-1'
is not displayed in the left hand frame. Only the mail-folders
are displayed. If I now want to get the subdirectory displayed
I have to manually add this folder to the 'folder list'.

Now you will find the following entries in the
  .mailboxlist file:

  archive-1
  archive-1/mail-folder-1
  archive-1/mail-folder-2
  archive-1/mail-folder-3

Switching back to Thunderbird the direcory will now be
interpreted as mail-folder, can be selected and causes
  an error message.

I found two solutions for the problem:
  1. Manually add a '/' to the end of the directory name,
     like 'archive-1/'.
  2. Manually remove the entry from the .mailboxlist file.

Now I wonder why the sub-directory needs to be added manually/
separately to the selected folder list to get it displayed from
whithin SM?
Why is it not added automatically when e.g. the mail folder
'archive-1/mail-folder-1' is added to the list of subscribed
folders? This would make sure that the folder structure is
displayed properly.
Isn't it at least necessary to a '/' to the end of the folder
name by default?

Regards,
Jürgen
