The current CVS drastically changes all the time. Since it has now moving to templates, all the hooking problems are still being worked out. Currently to get the button to show, you have to add a global to the template, and then modify that global inside the plulgin. I currently have it working in my setup, but I am reluctant to release it since Devel will probably just change again (which is what it is suppose to do).
