I have serveral e-mail accounts (aliases) using the same inbox, so I have to disagree. The possibility might come in handy from time to time, so I wouldn't consider it a complete waste of space. Still, such a feature must be configurable since not everyone would have use for it.

Fair enough - I filter mail to different aliases into different folders so did not think of such a requirement.
I'm always for options.
Although we'll soon get to the stage were we have so many that we need to have an Options Plugin so that admins can configure just which options are optional.
