I just started reading this particular thread. What I have noticed is that if you have a lot of message filters and a lot of folders for the messages to filter into, this causes a long login to happen. The Login screen comes up fast but once you click the login button, it takes a while. The more filters and folders you have, the longer it takes. Could this be what you are describing? (if not, sorry for butting in *smile*)
