No, SquirrelMail is a web application that relies on the web server,
and PHP to run. It shouldn't depend on what processor type you are
using.

Now you mention the issue generates an error, is that on every page?
Have you tried checking some of the common suggestions on the web
sites, and the archive? Have you checked your log files for both IMAP
and web server?
