the admin of customer (a school) told me that when 2 children enter SM 1.4.2 at the same moment in contiguous machines one impersonates the other (!). Honestly I don't think this is possible... anyway, to confirm I'd like your feedback. Their network is behind a Linux masquerading + Squid web cache, the IMAP server is Courier.
User preferences are known to get swapped only when two users log into SM on *the same machine* and *at the same time*. Otherwise, unless you have some problems with some kind of proxy or caching mechanisms (can't say as I've ever heard of this), this should never happen.
You should suggest that the children always click to log out when they are done and not to let anyone else use SM on the same computer until they have done so.
