Well... seeing as how this was a SquirrelMail list and not one for 
Spamassassin, I'm not sure how much help you'll get for this question ;-)

That being said, what I usually do if I want a site-wide spam/viral 
filtration system is I use Amavisd-new (which in turn, uses Spamassassin 
and a dozen other things you may like). It has a whitelist, a blacklist, 
and lots of other things of a similar ilk.

I'd also be willing to answer questions on it (off-list, since this ain't 
/exactly/ on-topic). I will also say that I have gotten this to work
