Even then, using POP as the primary mailbox access will not be available. For webmail, POP is purely inappropriate. If you (the original poster) have a server available (and since you're asking about SquirrelMail, I assume you do), install an IMAP server. Then set up fetchmail to poll the POP server and deliver into your local IMAP.
