Would you mind trying the following?

On src/global.php
 - add session_start(); just after the require_once(SM_PATH .
'config/config.php');

 - at the end of that file, inside the function sqsession_is_active()
comment out everything but the line $sessid = session_id(); even though
this last bit might not be at all necessary.
