This is typically the result of using a plugin that is not designed to work with SM version 1.4. However, it looks like you are having this problem with the core (i18n.php?!?)... What version of SM are you using? Have you been mixing and matching files? Can you please download a snapshot of the 1.4.1 tree and try again? If you are using any plugins, disable them all and see if you problem goes away.
