Thank you for the reply we are using exchange 2000 and like I stated when I try to go into folders to try and subscribe/unsubscribe folders I never make it there the browser just hangs. I let it run one day for 2 hours and nothing ever came back. I knew I would have to subscribe unsubscribe but can't. I have tried different machines on the local network even with SM to the folders option but doesn't work. Thank you for your reply.

Both machines are beefy and on gigabit network connections. I have set this up on 2 lab machines, but haven't quite turned it loose to the masses yet - that will be at the end of this month. But it works fine in my lab (SM 1.4.0 pointing to Exchange 5.5). If you add a folder "in the office" (presuming via a MAPI client, like LookOut) this won't appear in SM unless you "subscribe" to that new folder. By design. Similarly if you delete a folder "in the office", you must "unsubscribe" to this now nonexistent folder, when in SM. Folders deleted/created in SM will automatically (dis)appear when viewed from MAPI clients. Going into the folders options should work, mine does. Don't know what's wrong there.
