Actually this is the exact problem that my plugin

is ment to take care of.  I assume you have multiple domains.   
With my plugin if someone logs in from a URL of mail.example.com 
then they automatically send mail from [EMAIL PROTECTED]   If 
they go to the web page mail.sample.com to login then their mail 
comes from [EMAIL PROTECTED]    It takes some apache and bind 
setup to make this work, but it doesn't take any more ip addresses 
than you are probably already using.   It just requires the use of the 
named virtual hosts in apache.  It works quite neatly.

1. You could use the Virtual Host Login plugin so the username 
always gets
expanded to include the domain.  But I can't tell if you actually need
this.

2. There are two plugins that can help you make sure the user's 
outgoing
name and address are always set up:
