The mail_fwd plugin allows you to use a mysql backend to store forwarding information. I have not personally dealt with the vacation thing, although will be doing so in the next couple weeks. The hard part is getting a vacation script running in your environment that can successfully deal with virtual users... there are no standard solutions, but many people have done it. I personally already know how I will do it, and if one of the SM plugins doesn't work, I will modify one of them (or create a new one) to work against mysql. I'd be glad to work with you on this or keep you posted of my status.
