Alan,
    We've been plagued with these bugs for months over the course of
several
SM versions on several machines. If you find an answer, I'd love to hear
it.

We are getting complaints from a minority of our users complaining that
when they login in to to squirrelmail, they get erratic error messages
pertaining to..

īThis page contains secure and non secure items - continue yes /no"

clicking either means that the user get locks out. this can happen
either
before or after logging in a frequently causes users to lose what they
were doing.

sqmail versions 1.2.7 and 1.2.10, both with secure_login plugins
applied.

Anyone experienced this? Any ideas what may be causing this?

Found the bug concerning the addressbook and it's not SM related. Was

related (was running 4.3.0 beta) and it works great with PHP 4.3.0
final=20

But I still have my trouble ordering my mails with indexes, whenever you

up/down or remove, you're never sure of what's gonna happen on this

Anybody has already seen this problem??
Thanks.

Hi,

I didn't find in any of the archives I've looked in (maybe I did the
wron=
g
search but hey, I'm French), but I've got some troubles with my 1.2.10
version of SM.

Everything seems to run fine for receiving or sending mails.

My troubles are currently the index sort, which lets you choose how you
=
want
your messages to be sorted... It doesn(t work very well because when I
cl=
ick
on up or down, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't a just do
somethi=
ng
weird, shuffling the indexes to a new list... But no error messages are
displayed...

The other problem I have (and far more important) is that when I had a
 contact in the addressbook, it's working correctly, the file is created
=
and
 it is displayed as a list on the adresses page. If I had a second one
on=
 the
 fly, still ok.
Now if I click back on the adresses link to refresh the page, the list
disapears, even though the name.abook still exists...
If a had a third contact without seeing the 2 previous ones, then it
disp=
lays
the 3... :|

Think I'm pretty lost, thing is, the list doesn't show up if I don't had
=
a
contact so I can't use it at all (even the plugins are doing the
same)...

Can somebody help me?
Thanks!

-deurk.

Hi,

Just reported a problem with the index options but got another trouble:

Each time I modify options (whatever which ones), I click save/done/ok
an=
d it=20
returns back to the messages list. At this point, if I don't make a
refre=

are (in the same page of options)...

I'd like to find out why and to remedy to it...=20

Any idea someone? Thanks!

Subject: [SM-USERS] SM 1.2.10, PHP 4.3.0 and session.bug_compat_42

I just upgraded a server running SM 1.2.10 to PHP 4.3.0. After
upgrading, the prev/next and delete&prev/delete&next buttons no longer
worked.

I saw messages in the error log like this:

[error] PHP Notice: Undefined variable: msgs in
/usr/local/squirrelmail/squirrelmail-1.2.11-cvs-20030114/src/read_body.p
hp on line 560

I then turned on session.bug_compat_42 and the related warning and found
these errors in the log file:

[error] PHP Warning:  session_write_close() [<a
href='http://www.php.net/function.session-write-close'>function.session-
write-close</a>]: Your script possibly relies on a session side-effect
which existed until PHP 4.2.3. Please be advised that the session
extension does not consider global variables as a source of data, unless
register_globals is enabled. You can disable this functionality and this
warning by setting session.bug_compat_42 or session.bug_compat_warn to
off, respectively. in
/usr/local/squirrelmail/squirrelmail-1.2.10/src/redirect.php on line 170

and

[error] PHP Warning: Unknown(): Your script possibly relies on a
session side-effect which existed until PHP 4.2.3. Please be advised
that the session extension does not consider global variables as a
source of data, unless register_globals is enabled. You can disable this
functionality and this warning by setting session.bug_compat_42 or
session.bug_compat_warn to off, respectively. in Unknown on line 0

The second one appeared when displaying the message list.

I turned on session.bug_compat_42 and turned off the related logging and
now SM appears to be working properly using PHP 4.3.0. I hope this
information will help the developers track this problem down, I'd do it
myself but don't have the time. If you guys don't either, I may be able
to look into it tomorrow evening.

Subject: [SM-USERS] SM Session problem?

This is a multi-part message in MIME format.

------=_NextPart_000_04F2_01C2BBB4.1E6925B0
Content-Type: text/plain;
        charset="us-ascii"
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit

I'm having a little problem with squirrelmail. I'm not a programer but I
think it is not destroing the session as it should.

If I log to SM using one email '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' , logout and then login
with another account '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' the new account does not create the
specialfolders automaticly. In config.php it is
specified to auto create special folders. It worked for the first user.

So I took a look at the code that does it and saw : (left_main.php)

----

if ($auto_create_special && !isset($auto_create_done)) {
    $autocreate = array($sent_folder, $trash_folder, $draft_folder);
    foreach( $autocreate as $folder ) {

        if (($folder != '') && ($folder != 'none')) {

            if ( !sqimap_mailbox_exists($imapConnection, $folder)) {
                sqimap_mailbox_create($imapConnection, $folder, '');
            } else if (!sqimap_mailbox_is_subscribed($imapConnection,
$folder)) {
                sqimap_subscribe($imapConnection, $folder);
            }
        }
    }

    /* Let the world know that autocreation is complete! Hurrah! */
    $auto_create_done = TRUE;
    sqsession_register($auto_create_done, 'auto_create_done');
}

-----

If I remove the '&& !isset($auto_create_done) from the first "if"
everything works fine. So it looks to me that the session is been passed
between my users. I'm using the same machine/navigator to test many
accounts.

I'm using squirrelmail CVS version from '2003-01-06
(squirrelmail-20030106_0840-CVS.devel.tar.bz2) in a linux box rh 7.3

Is that a problem or I'm missing something here?

Thanks alot.
Thiago Lima.

As email are basically small files below 4KB .. it could very well
happen for ISP. But for most people it is a moot point as you said.
(ie. Maildir store one mail <-> one file)

I am starting with the config which I use in the production 1.2.0 system

Here's my config
freeBSD 4.7
apache 2.0.43
php 4.2.3
courier-imap 1.6.2
squirrelmail 1.4.0 (CVS-DEVEL Jan 11)

Couldn't find any information on google or in the archives or the wiki

All users (test users) on the system get this error, and all the users

Thanks in advance,

Sorry to pass the buck like this, but it really sounds like you didn't
remove the quota restriction from this account properly. SquirrelMail
only reports what the IMAP server tells it, and apparently the IMAP
server
is telling you you're out of quota.

Does locale/timezones.cfg exist? Is it readable by the apache user?
