This has something to do with the way we request the threaded message list.
Currently we do a request for all messages what, in my opinion, in most cases
is overkill.

On my to do list is implementing threadviews for time frames. The result will
be a threaded list for a limited period instead. (The thread extension
supports that)

It's not difficult to implement and it scheduled for the currently in
development rewritten imap backend.
