Hi, I've read the webpages about installation and configuration at the .org address, and am a bit lost.
I don't have to install (or I don't *THINK* I have to install) squirrelmail, as it came installed via my choices in the installation of RedHat 8.0. What I don't know, however, is where the ./configure is that is mentioned at : http://www.squirrelmail.org/wiki/InstallingSquirrelmailUnix -- I don't seem to have an executable named CONFIGURE (caps mine) in any of the squirrelmail directories. The output from a FIND / -NAME SQUIRREL* (caps mine again) are : [root@declan prefs]# find / -name squirrel* /usr/share/doc/squirrelmail-1.2.7 /usr/share/doc/squirrelmail-1.2.7/plugins/squirrelspell /usr/share/squirrelmail /usr/share/squirrelmail/locale/bg_BG/LC_MESSAGES/squirrelmail.mo /usr/share/squirrelmail/locale/bg_BG/LC_MESSAGES/squirrelmail.po /usr/share/squirrelmail/plugins/squirrelspell /var/lib/squirrelmail /var/spool/squirrelmail /etc/cron.daily/squirrelmail.cron /etc/httpd/conf.d/squirrelmail.conf /etc/squirrelmail [root@declan prefs]# Which doesn't really indicate to me where squirrelmail was "installed". *scratching head* I'm assuming that I can directly edit the /etc/httpd/conf.d/squirrelmail.conf file, but wanted some sort of confirmation about this stuff before wading in, hip-deep. Is there a doc that describes how to configure the .conf file? How do I *start* squirrelmail, once it's configured? I have sendmail configured to start at boot, is there a way to do the same for squirrelmail (via, I would assume, chkconfig) ??? While it is all nice and convenient that RH 8.0 does the install for me, it seems that the doc on the website assumes I will be in control of directories, binaries etc., and that is not the case now. HELP! :) I'm kinda a newbie, but not really. I know how to do the basic stuff, and can manage to get myself in trouble by attempting to go beyond my skill level, on a REGULAR basis.
