I just wanted to follow up on this one last time.

I found with the timeout set low, it still would cause problems with certain 
browsers like IE, where the page would reset and the intended page would not 
display after the 5 seconds I had it set to. (on a DNS lookup for an AAAA 
record)

I recompiled Squid with --disable-ipv6, and then that seemed to work the best.  
I did not need to lower the lookup time then.  And it works fast every time.

I would assume this same problem would occur with any DNS that does not provide 
ipv6 AAAA record.
