balabit has an experimental patch in their download section, next to the
tproxy4 kernel patch.

Is this patch the same as is mentioned on

with note that "It is not yet finished, the squid proxy doesn't bind to the client's address. Furthermore I think it would be better to have a different option for this, and "tproxy" wouldn't imply this. " ?

It's the patch linked from that wiki entry, yes.
Some lessons were learned from the Squid-3 integration. It should not be
hard to back-port them if needed straight from the 3-HEAD changesets.
At worst Laszlo and Adrian are at the other end of an email.
