   There's no way of authenticating transparent intercepted connections.

You can have transparent authentication if you setup NTLM stuff .... but transparent authentication is different from transparent interceptation. Even with transparent NTLM authentication, users will HAVE to configure their browsers and have your proxy configured. It can also be configured with a PAC file, for example. But it HAVE to be configured.
