So according to Squid you are saving around 10% of the bandwidth.
Maybe you have unauthorized users using the proxy and this is why your router shows higher bandwidth utilization? Check your access.log for IP addresses not yours, and verify your access controls (http_access rules, firewalling of the Squid proxy is also recommended).
