Have you already used Solr with default setup (Jetty)? If not, I recommend you do the Jetty setup first and online tutorial. Just so you understand what the files are, where they are and so on.
Then, add Tomcat into the mix. If you still have a problem, let us know which operating system you are on and what exceptions you are getting in log files. Currently, the information you provided is insufficient exactly because Tomcat is not the primary out-of-the-box solution. Regards, Alex. P.s.
