I can suggest you two resources.

First one is that:
http://www.cominvent.com/2011/04/04/solr-architecture-diagram/
Second one is that: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LUCENE-2412

Once a time ago I've asked a similar question and learned that these are
the current diagrams for Solr. After that I've prepared a class level flow
diagram for whole Solr. I can update it for Solr 4.5 and post it for any
people who want to learn the class level flow of Solr.

On the other hand here is my thoughts about your question: Solr is a big
project and has a complexity. Also it has a core project named Lucence so
you have to understand it and it adds another complexity.
You should ask yourself a question: why you need that diagrams? If your
purpose is not to learn Solr then you can find some diagrams at anywhere
else (consider that I will share a full flow diagram at class level). If
you need that diagrams to learn Solr then you have to something different.
I've read all the books about Solr (nearly read all books cos 'm reading a
new one) I've read all guides and nearly *all* e-mails since I've started
to learn it and work with Solr.

Reading books and understanding concepts are much more better way to learn
it but it's up to you.
