I was going to say 10, but frequently people find that they need a really big boost.

Normally, a boost might be 1.5 or 2 or 5, or something like that.

A fractional boost, like 0.5, 0.25, 0.1, or even 0.01 can de-emphasize terms.

If you add debugQuery=true to your query request and look at the "explain" section, you can see all the scores and intermediate scores to get an idea how big a boost a document needs to make it move as desired.
