It looks like spellcheck's collations feature is implemented using hit counts but I'm wondering if it'd be useful/possible to be able to sort by the maximum score as it would have been calculated by the query. I'm really thinking about the case when one of the spelling suggestions yields a perfect phrase match in a super important field.
