Just to clarify... *explicitly* adding fields dynamicly based on client commands has been implimented and will be included in Solr 4.4 *implicitly* adding fields dynamically based on what documents are added to the index is a feature that sarowe is still currently working on... https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-3250 -Hoss
