Hi* *Furkan, That was my flip way of saying that "Optimize" is a highly optional procedure that should not be undertaken under ordinary circumstances. Solr has no way of detecting whether this is necessary because in the vast majority of cases, it's not. If you do a search of this list, you'll find a lot of discussion of why it's no longer necessary. There's even a JIRA to remove it from Solr: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-3141
