Otis is probably right here. Expanding on it: If this is a simple LAN environment, I have heard of two hard-to-diagnose causes of intermittent and weird network issues: 1) NICs with buggy firmware, especially Broadcom. 2) IPv6 is enabled, but it is configured incorrectly or not being used. If it's the firmware, you can hopefully find a firmware upgrade on the website of your system or NIC manufacturer. A few NICs have firmware that gets loaded by the operating system driver, so for those you might need an upgraded driver or kernel. Thanks, Shawn
