Hi Umesh, I have the exact same Java 1.6 version as you, on OS X v10.8.3.
I downloaded the source distribution from the same mirror as you did, and ran 'ant dist' under the solr/ directory, and got "BUILD SUCCESSFUL". (FYI, building the source distribution is part of the "smoke testing" we do as part of validating a release, and this passed for me on my OS X 10.8.3 machine before I voted to release 4.2.1.) What version of Ant are you using? What command are you using to build? Did you try running 'ant clean' from the top level and then re-building?
