per-core logfiles?

I have been searching for a way to create per-core logfiles, with 
information not specific to a core being logged to a "main" log. There 
has been some discussion on this list in the past, but no apparent 
resolution.

Currently I use 3.5.0 with the default jdk logging.  When I upgrade to 
4.x, I want to build with no slf4j bindings and provide my own so I can 
use log4j for everything.  It would be very good if I could then have 
each core log to its own file.  Has this already been addressed, or 
should I file an issue in Jira so it can be considered for a future version?
