hey, is it possible that during those commits nothing has changed in the index? I mean are you committing nevertheless there are changes? if so this could happen since the spellchecker gets a new even that you did a commit but the index didn't really change. The spellchecker really only checks if there is a single segment in the index and rebuilds the index.
