I think that the issue is that Jetty is small, and easy to embed and get running, which is why it is packaged along with Solr. > What do you think of this > site, is it up to date and worth learning? What operating system are you using? Some of them, e.g., Debian and Ubuntu, have packages for Solr (though, probably version 1.4) running in Tomcat.
