Thanks Tommaso, yes this occurred after copying the .jar files to the lib folder. When i do not copy them from contrib/uima/lib and have the solrconfig.xml to point to those libs i get the following error. I am a bit confused why a class path was chosen to get the analysis engine descriptor . The error is prompted when the /update request handler calls this looks like it is related to the class path(/org/apache/uima/desc/). SEVERE: Error in xpath:java.lang.RuntimeException: solrconfig.xml missing /confi g/uimaConfig/analysisEngine
