I'm currently doing a trial with NewRelic's RPM Gold product. I'm having a great experience so far. Among other things, it gives stats on response time and throughput, broken down by request URL. It also gives stats on heap size and GC. Using this tool, we were able to determine which calls were using the most resources and implemented application level caching to ease the load on our Solr server. It also helped us tweak some issues we were having with garbage collection.
