You can do a search, sort by the special _docid_ "field" (underscores mandatory) descending and the top documents listed will be the latest added.

Like this, un-url-encoded:   q=*:*&sort=_docid_ desc

You'll be able to find them only after a commit.

One way to do this is index a timestamp with every document, and find
the latest ones using that field.  There's an example of an automatic
timestamp field in the example schema.
