It's unclear if this case is caused by IO contention, or the OS cache of the hot parts of the index being lost by that extra IO activity. Of course the latter would lead to the former, but without that OS disk cache, the searches may be too slow even w/o the extra IO. -Yonik http://www.lucidimagination.com
