It does, have you looked at http://wiki.apache.org/solr/SolJSON?highlight=%28json%29#Using_Solr.27s_JSON_output_for_AJAX. Also, in my book on Solr, there is an example, but using the jquery autocomplete, which I think was answered earlier on the thread! Hope that helps.
