The caution I would add is that you should be careful that you don’t enable schemaless mode without understanding the consequences in detail.
There is, in fact, some discussion of removing schemaless entirely, see: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-14701 Otherwise, I usually recommend that you take the stock ocnfigs and overlay whatever customizations you’ve added in terms of field definitions and the like.
