Interesting. I did mention 7.4.0 but not my OS. I'm on Debian Linux,
and I'm running Solr using the Solr-supplied init.d scripts (via solr
install).

Given that, I'll go ahead and set things up to do a simple
/solr/[c]/ping request for health-monitoring.
