this is from the output of the 'top' command on this host, specifically the 'load average:' field. although when i checked just now it was < 1, so that is where i want it to be.
the load is the overall host load- nothing specific to solr. although solr is the only thing running here other than the linux system itself.
Have you looked at: https://wiki.apache.org/solr/SolrPerformanceProblems and the links on that page?
