True. Un-inversion still takes place for non-DV-fields though (see UnivertingReader, which seems to lead to FieldCacheImpl.SortedDocValuesCache). But the wrapping is far nicer as everything looks like DocValues now and it seems (guessing quite a bit here) that the old 16M-limitation is gone. - Toke Eskildsen
