JMX monitoring

Hi,

I'm new to Solr and I've been attempting to get JMX monitoring  
working. I can get simple information by using the - 
Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote command line switch, but I'd like to get  
more useful statistics. I've been working on applying the SOLR-256 and  
jmx patch, but the original revisions are pretty old and I'm having to  
spend a lot of time wandering through the source.

Is there a better solution to getting this working or a newer version  
of the patch?
