Hi, I think these numbers changed in Lucene relatively recently, but be conservative and think of needing 2 to 3 times the space during optimize. Check on java-user for up-to-date answer. I don't think snapshooter takes more space than the snapshots. Modified files are copied, untouched ones are linked and that is all, I believe.
