Schema class configuration syntax

What is the <filter> element in an <analyzer> element that will load
this class:
 
org.apache.lucene.analysis.cn.ChineseFilter
 
This did not work:
 
 <filter class="org.apache.lucene.analysis.cn.ChineseFilter" />

This is in Solr 1.2.
