Meantime I've downgraded to Precise as the bison 2.3 dependencies were a
pain.

Same issue here (also on Ubuntu 14.04). I believe it's a bison v3 problem
though - YYLEX_PARAM is deprecated in favour of %lex-param.
$ bison --version
bison (GNU Bison) 3.0.2
