whoops :-) here's the proper commands [root@cognac ~]# hostname cognac.elec.qmul.ac.uk [root@cognac ~]# dig +short 'hostname' ;; connection timed out; no servers could be reached [root@cognac ~]# dig +short -x $(dig +short `hostname`) [root@cognac ~]# so actually that really doesn't look good.
