Please pardon a question from a rank amateur programmer...
Yesterday I downloaded Netbeans 26 (more time on my hands at the end of the
semester). I have been happily using Netbeans 23. I am now getting the
following message when I run my Big Project:

problem under discussion.
I experienced a similar (same?) red dot phenomena, and utilized the same
fixes. For me the dots occurred after I had copied over some old classes to
the current project

I am very much an amateur and only do development with Java and FX w/o
other libraries, so I am not sure if this will work for you, but I have
recently stumbled on something called jDeploy. (https://www.jdeploy.com/).
I am quite happy with it!
