Thanks for the reply, at least we know the cause.
No problem using com.sun. Although I'm more of a Metal LnF myself :-)

Invalid jre option setting default l&f to
com.sun.java.swing.plaf.nimbus.NimbusLookAndFeel
(I inherited this project. Don't flame me for using com.sun!)

What is needed from you:
- your operating system
- which version, exactly, of Java are you using
- are you using the 9.0-VC3 announced here and elsewhere, if not, please
use that
- please provide a project that can be used to reproduce the problem
- right now we know nothing about your project -- i
I migrated a project from Netbeans 8/JDK 8 to Netbeans 9/JDK 10. The project
builds successfully, but it fails with 'Error: Could not create Java Virtual
Machine. Error: A fatal exception has occurred'. I can run the project from a
script file, so it works if everything is set up correctly.
Hello NetBeans community,
Apache NetBeans IDE 9.0 Vote Candidate (VC) 3 [1] build has been
published [1] and so the time for the final Community Acceptance survey
[2] has come too. The essential purpose of this survey is to find out if
NetBeans community accepts the latest VC build as ready
I would recommend removing rc1 and not referring to it again, use only the
9.0-vc3 instead, don't include any plugins and then try to reproduce any
problems you encounter with a new fresh user directory.

I have a weird situation with the "Run File" action with NetBeans 9.0 (VC3 and
RC1)
For some Maven Projects "Run File" is always disabled even though the current
class in the editor does have a main() method.
When I open the same Maven project with a clean data directory, the main class

What you personally think is not relevant here -- in Apache, a 'release
candidate' is the thing you vote in inside Apache before releasing it to
the world, while in the NetBeans world, a release candidate has always been
an actual release to the outside world.
This caused a LOT of confusion when w
I personally do not think that "RC is an overloaded concept", but that's indeed
off-topic here.
Inventing a completely new abbreviation does remind me of this however:

I am not really interested in the discussion whether Apache uses RC or VC or XC

Without filing issues, or providing clues about what the problem is, issues
will not magically get fixed. We'd love to know more details about problems
you encounter, though note that PHP is not part of the Apache NetBeans

Hi Pascal,
I try the latest nightly 8.2 and it crash a lot with PHP so I will have to
wait.
Thanks for the help.

There's no point shooting questions anywhere if you're not using the build
we announced yesterday.

VC stands for 'voting candidate'.
The problem with RC is that it's an overloaded concept -- a release
candidate in Apache is something different to a release candidate in the
NetBeans world.
There's been lots of discussions around this on the 'dev' mailing list --
suffice it to say, if you're int

It's not possible to help. We need to know your operating system, version
of JDK, etc etc.
Also, what did you do to get this error, exactly?
Also, are you using 9.0 VC3, i.e., the vote candidate currently being
considered for the final release of 9.0?
