On shutdown, mixer settings are automatically saved with alsactl store. (There
is a bug in alsa-utils that keeps this from working -
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=637291 - but it's easy to work
around.) However, I don't see anything that restores mixer settings on startup.
